Features and Benefits:

1. Reliable non-contact measurement method.

2. Simple, menu-guided local operation with a four-line plain text display in multiple languages1.

3. Envelope curves on the local display for straightforward diagnostics1.

4. Chemically resistant PVDF sensor1.

5. Integrated temperature sensor for automatic correction of the temperature-dependent sound velocity1.

6. Suitable for explosion-hazardous areas.

7. Linearization function: Up to 32 points for conversion of the measured value into any unit of length, volume, or flow rate1.

Prosonic FMU42 Applications:

1) Continuous, non-contact level measurement in fluids, pastes, sullages, and coarse bulk materials5.

2) Flow measurement in open channels and measuring weirs5.

3) Suitable for applications with storage tanks, agitators, stockpiles, and conveyor belts 35.

Installation Procedure:

A. General Conditions: Do not install the sensor in the middle of the tank. It is recommended that 1/6 of the tank diameter be placed away from the tank wall1.

B. Protection: Use a protective cover to shield the device from direct sunlight or rain1.

C. Measurement Considerations: Avoid measurements through the filling curtain1.

D. Equipment Placement: Ensure limit switches and temperature sensors are not located within the emitting angle α1. Symmetrical equipment like heating coils can affect measurement1.

E. Alignment: Align the sensor vertically with the product surface1.

F. Multiple Devices: Never install two ultrasonic measuring devices in a tank, as the signals may interfere.

G. Shaft Installation: An ultrasound guide pipe (minimum diameter of 100 mm) is recommended for narrow shafts with strong interference echoes1.

H. Blocking Distance: Install the Prosonic M at a height that ensures BD's blocking distance is not undershot, even at maximum fill level. Use a pipe nozzle if necessary.

I. Housing: After mounting, the housing can be turned 350° to simplify access to the display and the terminal compartment4.
